Portal Woodlands Working Group
Portal Woodlands Conservation Group are a working group of Martlesham Parish Council, formed in November 1999 to conserve the woodlands which lie west of the Suffolk Police HQ and alongside the A1214.
Volunteers meet each month to work on a variety of wildlife, conservation and amenity projects.
These have included planting trees & hedges, conserving 2 bronze-age burial mounds, repairing second world war structures, maintaining pathways, creating wildlife habitats and involving local schools and organisations in conservation.
Anyone is welcome to join this friendly group. Training, tools and light refreshments are provided.
Meeting at the Education Area, in Portal Woods, new volunteers of all ages and abilities are always welcome; no experience is needed!
